Abstract. This study is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the achievement of the
Romanian unitary state, the Greater Romania. We wanted to show that among those who not
only tried, but also managed to demonstrate, with concrete data and arguments, the unity, the
faith and the Romanian nation, were also Romanian geopolitical figures of geographic origin.
Our demonstration is carried out through the works (books, articles, printed conferences, maps
etc.) published by those, who were unfortunately not only neglected, but even attacked,
disbanded, as we shall see, for their correct position, proved as scientific, not "nationalist".
Among other things, the elements discusses in the works of the geographic-geopolitical
Romanian figures, were the essential elements regarding the national state (through the concept
of geopolitics of nations) in its constitution over time, as well as the importance of the known
geographic pillars (the Carpathians, the Danube, the Black Sea), the role of Transylvania in the
realization of the modern Romanian state etc. They also reveal the extraordinary scientific
argumentation of our compatriots regarding the place and role of Romanian space in this part
of Europe.

Introducere
Mai întâi precizăm că, așa cum am arătat într-o serie de studii
anterioare, marii geografi români au făcut distincție între Geografia politică și

Geopolitică, așa cum primul a sesizat Simion Mehedinți , în urmă cu 75 de ani:
„Vrednic de relevat este locul însemnat al antropogeografiei, ca ramură din ce
în ce mai proeminentă (cu aspectele ei mai noi: geografie politică și
geopolitică)” . În plus, frecvența și naturalețea cu care geografii români

foloseau acești termeni, dar și alții, mulți considerați de dată mai recentă, cum

ar fi geoeconomia , la începutul secolului XX, cât și judecățile de valoare
